OPEN COMMUNICATION, COST-EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS
The Client Trust Account (CTA)
Many factors affect the ultimate cost to a client in a Child Dependency case, including:
-
the complexity of contested issues,
-
differing situations with parentage,
-
the service needs of the parents involved, and
-
the involvement of relatives.
As each case is different, it is difficult to predict total case costs. But we view ourselves as creative problem solvers. We seek to have consistent and open communication with clients about financial matters throughout their case in an honest and mutually respectful fashion. Our priority is to minimize fees while achieving the best results. When there is a potential legal strategy to pursue, we will discuss the financial costs in terms of hours and expenses that the strategy may entail to let our clients make the most informed decisions they can.
When you become a client of the Thurber Law Office, you will be asked to pay a retainer to the Client Trust Account (CTA) that is maintained by this office in compliance with California law. The specific amount that will be called for will often vary depending on the complexity of your case. Remember, all of the funds input into the CTA on your behalf remain yours until services are performed by this office on your case. As those services are provided or costs are incurred on your behalf, funds will be drawn from the retainer account. A statement of services will be forwarded to you each month to keep you fully informed as to the status of your account.
When your case is resolved, any unused portion of the retainer will be returned to you. If the retainer is exhausted before your case concludes, you will need to replenish your account. The amount requested will be based on the current status of your case and an estimate of future services required. In complex cases the CTA may need to be replenished more than once.
As a courtesy to our clients we now accept online payments to the TLO-CTA via "LawPay":
